SEATTLE — Fredy Montero was an original player on the Sounders FC and remains the club's all-time top scorer – but now, he’s joined a different Seattle team: Santo Coffee Co. The new shop located in the Roosevelt Neighborhood is a partnership between Montero, his wife Alexis, and Mikhail and Jessica Ghyvoronsky. They met through a mutual friend and pastor.

WITH COLOMBIAN STAR FOOTBALLER FREDY MONTERO, SANTO COFFEE SCORES IN SEATTLE

Fredy Montero, a Colombian forward for Major League Soccer’s Vancouver Whitecaps, is perhaps most famous for being the Seattle Sounders’ all-time record goalscorer. The international soccer player has also plied his trade in Europe and Asia as well as in his home country. As such, he is not your typical specialty coffee entrepreneur…

SOUNDERS ICON FREDY MONTERO BEHIND NEW NORTH SEATTLE COFFEE SHOP OPENING SUNDAY

North Seattle’s coffee scene is kicking things up a notch. In the works for over a year, a new cafe called Santo Coffee Co. — co-owned by Seattle Sounders icon Fredy Montero, who now plays for the Vancouver Whitecaps — will have its grand opening this Sunday in the Roosevelt neighborhood, serving up Colombian coffee and panela lattes (made with Colombian sugar and orange bitters)…

SANTO COFFEE CO IS AS COOL AS A FREDY MONTERO BACK-POST FINISH

SEATTLE — Nestled in the Roosevelt neighborhood on 65th Street in a new apartment building is Santo Coffee Co. With its concrete floors, a wall of stylish merch and greenery, and an indie playlist that reverberates off of the high ceiling, Santo feels almost too hip for the neighborhood. Unless you pay particularly close attention, or you already knew, you could come in for a cappuccino and leave never realizing that Santo is the latest chapter in Fredy Montero’s Seattle legacy…

FORMER SEATTLE SOUNDER FREDY MONTERO OPENS SANTO COFFEE CO.

After they’d met and married in Seattle, Fredy Montero, then a Seattle Sounder, and his wife Alexis returned to his native Colombia. He was on loan to Bogatá’s Millonarios. Alexis didn’t have a work visa, so being from one of the world’s major coffee cities and now living in one of its major coffee-growing countries (the third largest, after Brazil and Vietnam), she started taking coffee tasting and barista classes as a hobby…

Have you a lingering affection for the original Sounders, or are you a transplanted Whitecaps fan? Then might I have the job for you! Fredy Montero, the former Sounder and current Vancouver forward, is opening a coffee shop with his wife up in the Seattle neighborhood of Ravenna, and they’re currently hiring…

SANTO COFFEE – ROOSEVELT

We’ve honestly been waiting to write this review for close to a year. We go to Rising Sun Produce, located down the street, quite often. One day when walking past the newly built Mio Apartments on the way to Rising Sun, we saw a sign that Santo Coffee was opening in the Fall of 2018. We were happy to have another coffee shop in walking distance to our house. I think the first time we saw the sign was June or July of 2018…

FORMER SOUNDERS STAR FREDY MONTERO SET TO OPEN COFFEE SHOP IN SEATTLE

Fredy Montero hasn't played for the Sounders since 2012, but he's always had a soft spot for Seattle. Last September, he even wrote a heartfelt piece for The Players' Tribune on his emotional return to the Sounders as a member of the Vancouver Whitecaps. Now a member of Sporting CP in Portugal, Montero has continued to show his relationship with the city. Last week, he posted a photo on Instagram that shows he and his wife, Alexis, have partnered with two friends to bring a coffee shop to the Roosevelt neighborhood of Seattle: Santo Coffee Co…
